Stefon Diggs' run in Houston lasted just eight games in 2024 before the receiver tore his ACL in late October.
During a Wednesday interview with , Texans general manager Nick Caserio said he's "absolutely open" to Diggs returning in 2025.
"We have good relationships with Stef and his representation," Caserio said, . "We enjoyed having Stef in the building. So, the door is always open. A number of players have expressed sentiments and interest in potentially returning to our team next season. We never rule anything out, so we're going to be open-minded."
The Texans sent fifth- and sixth-round picks to Buffalo for Diggs last offseason. After the trade, the sides agreed to wipe out the final three seasons of the wideout's deal, putting him on a path to free agency in 2025.
The 31-year-old profiles as one of the top receiver options in free agency, but the injury, coupled with his age and drop-off in production, could curtail his suitors. It's possible Diggs could ink a one-year deal to prove he's back to Pro Bowl form before hitting the market again in 2026. With a glut of WR-needy clubs, however, Diggs could price himself out of Houston.
With Tank Dell also suffering a brutal knee injury late last season, putting his 2025 in question, the Texans have a need at wideout opposite Nico Collins. They could seek to bring back Diggs for another go-round or opt for a younger option in the draft. While upgrading the offensive line in front of C.J. Stroud should be priority No. 1 in Houston this offseason, adding another receiver option is on the wish list. One question is whether new offensive coordinator Nick Caley views Diggs as a good fit in his scheme.
