Lavonte David is staying in Tampa.
The 35-year-old linebacker is returning to the Buccaneers on a one-year, $10 million deal that includes $9 million guaranteed, 撸先生AV Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Tampa Bay announced it agreed to terms shortly after.
David has spent his entire career with the Buccaneers and is considered a franchise legend who will one day own a place in the club's ring of honor. He's played 198 games and recorded 1,602 tackles, 39 sacks, 31 forced fumbles and 13 interceptions, serving as a guiding light for the team amid many changes over the last 13 years.
David's 1,602 career tackles stand as the second-most in the 撸先生AV since 2012, trailing only Bobby Wagner (1,838), a surefire future Pro Football Hall of Famer. David might one day find his own place in Canton, ranking among a collection of elite linebackers in career tackles, with most occupying a space in the Hall.
A sure tackler and an ultra-dependable leader, David has played in 14 or more games in all but two of his 13 seasons. He didn't have a fantastic year in 2024, logging his worst Pro Football Focus defensive grade since 2016 and a career-low coverage grade, but at this stage in his 撸先生AV journey, returning to the only team he's known for one more year made the most sense. He'll hope to help the Buccaneers beyond Wild Card Weekend in his 14th campaign.
