Bobby Wagner is staying in the nation's capital.
The veteran linebacker is returning to the Washington Commanders on a one-year deal worth up to $9.5 million, 撸先生AV Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported, per sources. The contract includes $8 million in guaranteed money, per Rapoport and Garafolo.
Wagner followed his former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to Washington in 2024 and signed a deal that included roughly $6.06 million in guaranteed money. By earning his 10th Pro Bowl nod in 2024 and a second-team All-Pro selection with the upstart Commanders, Wagner proved he was worth more and Washington obliged, bumping his guaranteed total by nearly $2 million.
Wagner became the veteran presence Washington needed in Quinn's first year, leading a unit operating under a scheme he knew very well from their two seasons spent together in Seattle from 2013 through 2014. With Wagner in the fold, Washington outperformed expectations, earning a wild-card berth and scoring upset wins over Tampa Bay and Detroit before falling to Philadelphia in the NFC Championship Game.
At 34 years old, Wagner proved he still has plenty of juice left in him. With the bitter taste of defeat on the doorstep of the Super Bowl lingering, Wagner is running it back with the Commanders.
