Rashee Rice's off-field issues won't stop the Kansas City Chiefs receiver from participating in organized team activities.
Rice reported for Chiefs OTAs on Monday, 撸先生AV Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the situation.
Controversy has swirled around the K.C. wideout entering his second season. In early April, Rice surrendered to authorities on charges including aggravated assault after he and another driver of a speeding sports car allegedly caused a crash involving a half-dozen vehicles on a Dallas highway last month. Then, in May, the Dallas Morning News reported Rice was in a downtown Dallas nightclub. Dallas police did not name Rice as the suspect in a report of the incident to The Associated Press. 撸先生AV Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Monday night on The Insiders that the reported victim, a photographer, recently dropped the charges against Rice.
Following the speeding incident, Rice participated remotely in Phase One of the voluntary offseason program.
With OTAs kicking off this week, the 24-year-old is in the building and expected to participate in on-field practices. Rice is subject to the 撸先生AV's personal conduct policy and could face potential suspension.
The Chiefs' top wide receiver en route to the Super Bowl last season, Rice compiled 938 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 catches in 16 regular season games as a rookie. K.C. added free agent Hollywood Brown and first-round speedster Xavier Worthy this offseason to upgrade the playmaking around Patrick Mahomes. Those additions could be significant if Rice misses any time due to his off-field incidents.
The Chiefs hold OTAs May 20-22, 28-30, and June 4-7. The club conducts its mandatory minicamp on June 11-13.
