Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw to undergo season-ending surgery on injured knee

Christian Darrisaw's 2024 season is finished.

The standout Vikings left tackle suffered a knee injury that will require season-ending surgery, 撸先生AV Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The team officially placed him on injured reserve on Friday.

Darrisaw suffered the knee injury just before halftime of Thursday night's 30-20 loss to the Rams and did not return. A subsequent MRI confirmed the severity of Darrisaw's injury. Seven-year veteran David Quessenberry replaced him for the remainder of the game.

Darrisaw had started in all seven of Minnesota's games in 2024 and maintained his excellent play as Sam Darnold's blindside protector, earning an 81.4 offensive grade from Pro Football Focus. He'd performed at a similar level in the previous two seasons, posting a career-high mark of 90.3 in 2022.

Darrisaw arrived in Minnesota as the 23rd overall pick of the 2021 draft and almost instantly proved his worth, providing the Vikings with a cornerstone left tackle. He's never played a full season -- his highest mark for games played in a campaign is 15 -- but the knee injury suffered Thursday will make 2024 his shortest season of his career.

The Vikings (5-2) will be forced to proceed without him for the rest of this promising season.
