Steelers QB Kenny Pickett ruled out after suffering rib injury in first half of loss vs. Jaguars

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a rib injury in the first half of Sunday's 20-10 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not return.

Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Pickett's injury following the game but told reporters he does not have "any understanding" yet on how badly the QB is hurt or his status moving forward.

Pickett went down after taking a big hit in the final minute of the first half and quickly exited for the locker room. He was later seen warming up following halftime, and the Steelers initially announced that he was expected to return to the game after being evaluated for the rib injury. Pickett, however, was soon downgraded to out to begin the second half.

He had thrown for 73 yards on 10-of-16 passing before exiting.

Mitchell Trubisky came in and attempted one pass at the end of the second quarter before Chris Boswell sent a 61-yard field goal attempt wide right at the close of the half.

Trubisky then took over for good in the third quarter, faced with a 17-3 deficit. The veteran backup went 15 of 27 for 138 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions as Jacksonville held onto its halftime lead to put away Pittsburgh.
