Raiders' Brock Bowers becomes third rookie TE to eclipse 1,000 yards, first to hit 100 catches

Brock Bowers' first-year tour de force has hit more history.

Bowers became only the third rookie tight end in ߣÏÈÉúAV chronicle to record 1,000 receiving yards, accomplishing the feat during Sunday's 19-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bowers hauled in a 32-yard pass from quarterback Aidan O'Connell in the first quarter to reach 1,000, becoming the first 2024 rookie pass catcher to hit the mark this season, as well. In the fourth quarter, Bowers caught his 10th pass of the game and his 100th for the season, becoming the first rookie tight end to reach the mark.

"I couldn't do it without all the other guys," Bowers said, . "Aidan was slinging that thing and everyone was making plays so it felt good. ... Just coming here and [winning], the vibes are just way better."

Taken 13th overall by the Raiders in the 2024 ߣÏÈÉúAV Draft, Bowers joined the Chicago Bears' Mike Ditka (1961; 1,076) and the Atlanta Falcons' Kyle Pitts (2021; 1,026) as the only first-year TEs to hit 1K.

Bowers had 11 receptions for 99 yards on Sunday, bringing his season totals to 101 catches for 1,067 yards. The Raiders will face the New Orleans Saints in Week 17 with Bowers needing 10 more yards to break Ditka's record and five more catches to move past the Los Angeles Rams' Puka Nacua's rookie catch record (regardless of position), which he set last year at 105.

Las Vegas is immersed in a trying season, but Bowers has shined for the Silver and Black.

Two weeks earlier, Bowers surpassed the Detroit Lions' Sam LaPorta for the most receptions by a rookie TE in league history.

Bowers' final numbers should make the Raiders' remaining games enticing despite their struggles.

No matter Bowers' final statistics, he's already made history and given Raiders fans plenty to look forward to in the seasons to come.
