The New England Patriots have received good news on quarterback Mac Jones.
ߣÏÈÉúAV Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Jones is believed to have been suffering from back spasms during Sunday's season-opening loss to the Miami Dolphins, per sources informed of the situation.
Jones told reported later Monday that he's feeling better.
"Definitely feel better," Jones said, per ߣÏÈÉúAV Network's Mike Giardi. "Yeah, I want to be able to be ready to play against Pittsburgh (in Week 2) and I feel good."Â
Jones injured his back against Miami and didn't meet with the media while undergoing X-rays on Sunday, which came back negative, ߣÏÈÉúAV Network Insider Tom Pelissero previously reported.
Jones told reporters Monday that he expects to be able to practice on Wednesday, adding that he's "."
The Patriots QB completed 21 of 30 passes for 213 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the season opener while taking two sacks. Jones also rushed twice for no yards and lost a fumble. He did not miss a snap.
The positive news on Jones' injury means he could be in line to start Week 2 versus theSteelers. Brian Hoyer is the backup if the Patriots decide to hold him out.
