Jets permit Haason Reddick's agents to contact teams regarding trade interest

The New York Jets have pulled off one blockbuster trade. Could another be barreling down the pike?

A few teams have been contacted about a potential trade for veteran pass rusher Haason Reddick, sources confirmed to 撸先生AV Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.

The Athletic first that the Jets permitted Reddick's new agents a short window to seek a trade.

Speaking Tuesday at the Fall League Meeting in Atlanta, Jets owner Woody Johnson confirmed that the team has given Reddick and his representation permission to seek a trade.

Reddick recently hired new reps, including Drew Rosenhaus, after being dropped by his previous agency. The pass rusher had previously requested a trade after sides couldn't agree on a long-term solution. Perhaps recommenced interest could bring about a different outcome.

"We like the agent; he's good, he knows what he's doing," Johnson said. "If anybody can get Haason out of whatever he is and get him playing, I think it'd be better for the young player."

Reddick is still seeking a multi-year deal, per Rapoport.

"I don't know if he'll be able to do it, but if there's anybody can make an argument and explain it to the player, I think Rosenhaus can do that," Johnson said of a potential resolution. "He's very very accomplished."

Rosenhaus told 撸先生AV Network Insider Mike Garafolo on Monday night before the Jets' loss to the Bills at MetLife Stadium that the first goal was to work out a solution with New York.

With Reddick continuing his holdout and the fines racking up, it makes sense for all parties to at least see what's available -- if for no other reason than to assess the landscape before reconvening.

In a league that changes week-to-week -- like the Lions losing Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aidan Hutchinson -- allowing Rosenhaus rope to see what other teams might offer in terms of a trade and/or a contract could help frame the discussions moving forward.

The news of renewed trade interest for Reddick came as the Jets finalized a trade to acquire star receiver Davante Adams on Tuesday. A trade of Reddick could help the Jets recoup some of the draft assets they sent to Vegas to get the Adams deal done.
