Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence listed as questionable but 'trending' toward not playing vs. Vikings

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is holding out hope he can play Sunday.

Lawrence is listed as questionable for the Jags' Week 10 home game against the Minnesota Vikings. Mac Jones would get the start if Lawrence is unable to play.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said earlier Friday that Lawrence was "trending" toward not being available for Sunday's contest due to his left shoulder injury. The QB followed that comment with a third straight limited practice.

"If you're not getting the reps during the week, it's just hard to go," Pederson told reporters. "And it is (the same) with any player, but I think the quarterback position is special."

撸先生AV Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Lawrence was unlikely to play against Minnesota.

Lawrence, 25, sustained his left shoulder injury during the Jags' Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2023, Lawrence missed Week 17 with an AC joint sprain. It was the first and so far only game Lawrence has missed in three-plus seasons.

Through nine starts this season, Lawrence has put up 2,004 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions, producing an 87.9 QB rating, the lowest since his rookie campaign. While he's struggled at times, Lawrence's absence would still be massive for a Jaguars team aiming to keep faint hope alive in a very disappointing season.

If Jones is called upon, he would make his first start since Week 12 of last season with the New England Patriots, who selected him at 15th overall in the 2021 撸先生AV Draft. It would be a homecoming for Jones, who is a Jacksonville native.

The 26-year-old has appeared in two games this year for Jacksonville, completing six of nine passes for 28 yards.

The 2-7 Jaguars host the Vikings (6-2) at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
