Daniel Jones is expected to make his return to game action next week.
New York Giants coach Brian Daboll told reporters Sunday that Jones, who hasn't played in an 撸先生AV game since suffering a torn ACL last November, is slated to start at quarterback for Big Blue's second preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Jones didn't play in the Giants' preseason opener, a 14-3 win over the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Backup QB Drew Lock exited the proceedings early with a hip injury and is expected to sit out a number of practices this week. Tommy DeVito is the only other signal-caller on the roster.
Daboll said Sunday the Giants don't plan to add another QB right now as they monitor Lock's recovery. Tight end Tyree Jackson will serve as New York's emergency quarterback.
Jones was fully cleared for contact ahead of training camp and has been a regular participant in practice, even getting involved in a scuffle earlier this week during New York's joint practice with the Lions.
Ahead of a critical sixth season, Jones will get his first opportunity on Saturday afternoon to stake his claim as the Giants' QB of the future.
