George Kittle sits out practice with hamstring issue as 49ers deal with another injury to star player

The San Francisco 49ers are already set to face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 without two of their major offensive weapons. Now, a third key element of the offense appears to be banged up.

Tight end George Kittle did not practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury, putting his availability for Sunday's divisional matchup at SoFi Stadium in doubt.

Kittle had seven catches for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, dropping the 49ers to 1-1 on the season.

The 49ers are already without running back Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (calf strain) for at least the next game -- and perhaps beyond. Losing Kittle would leave the 49ers with only one of their top playmakers available in wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

The 30-year-old Kittle has not played a complete regular season since his second year in the league, back in 2018.

Luckily for the Niners, the 0-2 Rams are also quite banged up. They'll be without WRs Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp and are still sorting through multiple injuries on their offensive line.
