Falcons QB Kirk Cousins (Achilles) says he'll be ready to go in Week 1 vs. Steelers

Kirk Cousins isn't expected to play in the preseason, but he'll be raring and ready to go for the regular season.

Cousins said as much Friday during the Atlanta Falcons-Miami Dolphins preseason tilt, roughly nine months after tearing his Achilles.

"I'll be ready to go Week 1," Cousins said during a sideline interview. "I've been going full speed now for all of camp, just getting better every week."

It's not a surprising statement as Cousins has been practicing in full, but he's clearly confident he'll be full steam ahead when the Falcons host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 8.

Cousins tore his Achilles during a Week 8 Minnesota Vikings win over the Green Bay Packers. It proved to be Cousins' final game with Minnesota, as he signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons.

With no preseason action on the agenda for Cousins, Week 1 will serve as the first time Falcons fans will see their new QB1 in action and Cousins' first time back from his injury.

The 35-year-old is beginning a new and pivotal chapter in his career and, if there was any doubt, he'll be reporting for duty with Atlanta in its season opener.
