Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) downgraded to out for Sunday's game against Buccaneers

Jalen Hurts will continue to play without his top target from the 2023 season.

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Heading into the Week 4 matchup, Brown did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday. In Friday's session, Brown was a limited participant and initially earned a questionable designation later that day, suggesting he is getting closer to a return even though he'll miss another contest.

With the Eagles' bye week taking place after Sunday's contest, Brown also has a bit more time to recover from his injury now.

Brown suffered a hamstring injury during practice before the club's Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons. ESPN's Lisa Salter reported during that Monday Night Football game that Brown told her he expected to miss a couple of weeks due to the injury.

In Philly's season opener, the three-time Pro Bowler tallied five receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' win over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil.

Brown will not be the only receiver missing Sunday's game, as DeVonta Smith (concussion) has also been ruled out. Smith suffered a concussion in Philadelphia's Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints. Smith will miss his first game of the 2024 season.

Brown has recorded back-to-back 1,400 receiving-yard seasons since he was acquired via trade from the Titans in 2022.

The Eagles and Buccaneers kick off in Tampa Bay at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
