The Kansas City Chiefs could be without their best defensive player Wednesday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
K.C. listed star defensive tackle Chris Jones as questionable on Christmas Day.
The Chiefs also listed right tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee) as questionable and left tackle D.J. Humphries (hamstring) out. Corner Chamarri Conner (concussion) is also ruled out.
Jones is dealing with a calf injury. After two missed practices, he was listed as limited on Tuesday before getting the questionable designation. Missing the massive playmaker would put a huge dent in Steve Spagnuolo's defense. Jones is not only dominant on the interior, but his ability to slide outside and take advantage of matchups exponentially raises Spag's creativity.
Jones suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter of the Week 16 victory over the Houston Texans and did not play another snap.
Taylor's potential absence could also be a bad sign for the already hobbled Patrick Mahomes. The right tackle might be a penalty magnet, but he's solid in pass protection. Potentially missing two offensive tackles would be ill news for a quarterback nursing an ankle injury, especially with T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig streaking off the edge.
