Chargers QB Justin Herbert (thigh/ankle) off injury report, all set for Sunday vs. Buccaneers

Justin Herbert's got a couple problems with his left leg, but they won't add up to an absence Sunday.

Herbert's off the Los Angeles Chargers' injury report and set to start versus the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15.

During the Chargers' Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Herbert sustained a thigh bruise. By Wednesday, Jim Harbaugh told reporters that his quarterback was also dealing with an ankle sprain -- and not the same ankle injury that had troubled Herbert earlier in the year.

Herbert didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, but returned Thursday in limited fashion. He was a full participant on Friday.

As L.A. looks to close in on a playoff spot, Sunday's game and Herbert's health are paramount.

He played through injury earlier in the season, but his high ankle sprain was clearly a detriment. Just how much his left leg injuries slow him will be worth monitoring.

Through 13 starts so far in 2024, Herbert has completed 234 of his 366 passes (63.9%) for 2,764 yards, 14 touchdowns and just a single interception. He's also rushed for 224 yards -- 78 shy of his career high -- and two scores. However, Herbert's sensational play goes far beyond his numbers and the Chargers will need that to continue Sunday.

Herbert and the Bolts (8-5) host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6) at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
