Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is trying to walk out of the muck he stepped in Monday.
On his weekly radio show on Monday night, Graham commented on the relationship between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts, which has seemed off in recent weeks as the Eagles passing attack has floundered.
"I don't know the whole story, but I know that 1 (Hurts) is trying. 11 (Brown) could be a little better with how he responds to things. They were friends, but things have changed," Graham said on . "And I understand that because life happens. But (on) the business side, we got to make sure we don't let the personal get in the way of the business.
"And that's what we need to do better."
After his comments took flight, Graham, who is currently on injured reserve due to a torn triceps, attempted to put the toothpaste back in the tube. He that he'd made assumptions about the relationship between the QB and WR that weren't accurate.
"I made a mistake and I assumed that it was something that it wasn't," Graham said. "I just want to win so bad that I don't just want to use the media when we need to talk about something and we can fix the problem ourselves. I didn't add to it in a good light, so that's my bad.
"I just assumed, and it made me out to look even worse because I had it all wrong and now people are going to run with that part. I really just want to win, man, and I want brothers to be able to just hash it out."
Graham noted that he would apologize to Hurts and Brown for his off-the-cuff comments.
The 36-year-old veteran said his initial intent was to ensure the chatter about the Eagles' struggling passing game didn't get in the way of their current hot streak as a team. Graham didn't want Brown or other teammates airing their grievances in the media, but he wound up making a worse misstep.
"I wasn't trying to be divisive. I just didn't want us to use the media in a bad way," he told McManus. "And that starts with me too. I can't do that, either. If I've got something, I've got to go to the people too, instead of just feeding it like I did."
The Eagles (11-2) are on a nine-game win streak, even with the passing attack not living up to its standards. Given how last year deteriorated, Graham's comments will attract eyeballs, but it's not something that should derail their on-field prowess.
